RootsIreland links to NLI Catholic Records

RootsIreland announced yesterday that they have now linked their index entries for the Roman Catholic parish records on the National Library of Ireland’s (NLI) website. For those with Irish Catholic ancestors this is a good thing, it will take you less time scrolling through the registers. Unless of course your ancestors were in an area that covered by RootsIreland. If that is the case, you can do a search at IrishGenealogy and see if you can find the index there and then take that information to the NLI website and search that way.

RootsIreland is a paid site, but they are having a December Special! A one year subscription is now $142, (it is usually $255) which is their current price for a six month subscription. Sale ends on Dec 31st.

If you are interested in subscribing, you can find the details here.

Disclaimer: I have no connection with either of these sites, I just use them in my research as needed.

  1. That is great news, it will save my eyes burning trying to scroll through the original registers (though it is 100 times better than when they were only available on microfiche.

    1. Sharon, it really is good news. Though, I have learned one thing since I wrote this post. The link actually goes to the beginning of the register for the townland so make sure you take note of when the event took place, then use the drop down menu to insert the appropriate information so you can get the information quickly.
